Canon in A Minor
for two celli and double bass
Members of the OvreArts Sinfonia, conducted by Edward Leonard
Canon in A Minor began life as a tongue-in-cheek tribute to Pachelbel, but it became its own entity through the process of writing it. It is, like Pachelbel’s (in)famous canon, stricter than it probably sounds, the two celli playing the exact same music eight measures apart, while the changing bass notes add harmonic variety and tension.
